Indonesia has abundant mineral resources, and is a leading
global producer of tin, copper, nickel, and gold. Silver and
bauxite are also available in smaller quantities. In 2020,
Indonesia banned nickel exports, despite being its third
largest exporter. This year, Indonesia has confirmed an
export ban on bauxite from June, and there are proposed
bans on copper, tin, and gold exports. Moving forward,
Indonesia plans to encourage companies to set up
production units to process mineral resources into high-
value products domestically
